Friends are gifts from God

Since young, i'm not really exposed to the 'true color' of the real world. Everyone i know, every friends i had is not even a harm to me, in fact, it caused me to trust people easily. Mum always warn me, "you'll never know what kind of people you will face in the world, so be careful".

I've....... always neglected that piece of advise, and so i've learned my lesson through the hard way many of times. Throughout the years, i realize that true friends among peers are hard to find. They don't just talk about tips for shopping, or discounts. At times, they'll just look at you, and by one glance they'll know what you're up to. Especially when you're sad or in trouble, they'll just know what they should or should not say to you at that very moment. I thank God for those great friends, though there are not many, only a handful of them. But... God always send them right in time for me, for good advise, as well as comfort for tears. I read what He says about friends in Proverbs today, and i think it's a good piece of scriptures for us to ponder. :)

Proverbs 27:5,6,9, 10
5 Open rebuke is better than love carefully concealed.
6 Faithful are the wounds of a friend, but the kisses of an enemy are deceitful.
9 Ointment and perfume delight the heart, and the sweetness of a man’s friend gives delight by hearty counsel.
10 Do not forsake your own friend or your father’s friend, nor or go to your brother’s house in the day of your calamity; Better is a neighbor nearby than a brother far away.

I agree, many of times, open and sincere rebuke from a friend or peers is not pleasing to our ears, it might be 'hurtful' too if we've been too protective to ourself. But it would be far much better to know the truth than to hear from a friends who only wants to please your ears with lies coated with honey. You may scream or defend yourself against what they say at first, but do remember these few scriptures, and start thinking of what is right and what is wrong. God don't simply just place good friends around you, there must be a purpose they are there for you. :)
